Blake Haney, soph, Stockdale
The nation's top sophomore in the mile (4:09.43) and 3,200 meters (8:54.65) predictably dominated the area distance races, going undefeated locally in the 1,600 and 3,200, winning the latter race at the section meet and then took third in state in the 1,600.
Ivan Gonzalez, jr, Ridgeview
A soccer player who might have found a new sport, Gonzalez out-kicked Buchanan's Cody Brazeal to win the section's 800 crown in 1:54.26. He lowered that PR to 1:53.31 to finish 13th in state.
Cameron Miller, sr, Stockdale
Besides pushing teammate Haney in practice, the Stanford-bound Miller was great in his own right. He qualified for the state meet finals in both distance events after placing third in the 1,600 (4:13.10) and second in the 3,200 (9:12.30) in the section.
