Race Recap:
Ryan Lucker of CSUB took his third 2 mile title today and Monica Guzman (Garces Sr) was first female in the two mile.
Cesar Mireles, former BC and Golden Valley runner won the 4 mile. He now runs for Rocky Mountain College.
The day started off with the mile run which was won by 8 year old Alex Munoz who ran 6:54. First girl was 7 year old Ariel Morales who ran 7:23. Who was followed by the first dog and master. 13 year old Sam Marin ran 7:43 with his unnamed dog to take the win.
In the two mile Ryan Lucker won in 10:04 and was closely followed by the four mile winner when he finished. In second was Arvin's Juan Calderon who was this year's SSL champ. He ran 10:15. In third was former McFarland great Jesus Gomez who ran 10:57. In 7th place was 63 year old Herve Pastre who ran 11:56.
Garces senior Monica Guzman was the fastest female with a 12:24 clocking which netted her 9th overall. McFarland's Corina Garcia was behind her in 12:42.
Former Golden Valley and BC runner Mireles ran with Lucker for the first lap and then ran the second lap 9n 10:27 for a 20:31 clocking. Today's weather must have been balmy for him since he just got him from Rocky Mountain College in Montana where is was minus eleven degrees before he left.
Behind him was David Bacus who was followed by former Driller and current Cal Poly SLO freshman Andrew Ariey who ran 22:25. The next finisher was Arvin's cross country coach (Brian Nelson) who ran 23:15 which may have been a new fifty and over record for the four mile course.
Jonathan Wykoff (24:46), Driller Kevin Scrivano (14) ran 25:08 and Bruce Deeter was behind them in 25:31.
A couple of my running campers did the double today. Mother (Kim Nance) and daughter (Nicki Gilbert) ran the BTC Fun Run 5 mile at 7am and then did the 4 mile together. Mom edge out her daughter 46:32 to 46:39.
Last but not least, Robby Baker's (Ridgeview) mom (Danette Baker) finished the four mile in 40:16. Her son and some other Bakersfield high school harriers were in Reno competing in the snow at the USATF National Cross Country Championships.
When I find complete results, I will post them.
