SWYL Varsity Girls – 3 Miles:
Senior Driller Sarah Baker completed the rare quad today at the league meet. After her first win at the Kern County Championships on 10.30.10, the fourth league (3 SEYL / 1 SWYL) win was all but certain. She took the lead from the start and had only Stockdale's Amber Nelson with her at the kilometer mark. After that she was all alone for her final circuit on the Hart Park course. On November 12th, she hopes to again qualify as individual for the state meet.
On the team side, Stockdale continued to dominate and easily won the league meet. They also won all three cluster meets. On November 12th, they also compete with Baker in the division one race and have hopes of qualifying as a team.

The color purple dominated this race as well. Ridgeview Freshman Alvaro Gonzalez ran with Golden Valley senior Daymon Sandles for the first 2.5 miles and then left Sandles for an easy win. Sandles qualified last year for state so this freshman may have a shot at making state this year.

2:30 pm SEYL Varsity Girls – 3 Miles:
This race was the only one of the day were their was not a clear cut favorite individual or team. North went undefeated in dual meets and was the favorite for the team win. On the individual side, the sentimental favorite had to be Foothill senior Natalie Fernandez who has 2 seconds and one third in SEYL league competition. With three time SEYL champ Sarah Baker being moved to the SWYL, it looked like her year.
But East sophomore Sydney Rowan took the early lead and Fernandez ended up second for the third time. Rowan ran 19:33 and helped her team win the meet which gave them a share of the team title with North. But a protest was filed for a uniform violation and she was disqualified. From photos it appears that though she wore black shorts like her team mates, they were to long. Photo HERE.
So the individual win went to Foothill's Fernandez who ran 19:39. With the DQ of Rowan, East ended up in second behind North 54 to 55. This gave North the team title.

3:00 pm SWYL Varsity Boys – 3 Miles:
The theme of the day was domination and the last race of the day was the definition of domination. From the start, Stockdale took control of the race and as it went on, more and more Mustangs moved to the front. In the end, junior Cameron Miller ran sub 15:30 for the win and his team mates went 2,3,4,5. For a perfect 15 (the lowest score a team can get).
Only Independence's Dwayne Facho kept it from being a one through seven sweep. Needless to say, Stockdale took the team win. Now they are primed to be one of the first Bakersfield teams in recent memory to qualify for state in division one.
