Shafter girls, Tehachapi boys win SSL meet championships.

Shafter's Lacie Rasley won the shot put with a mark of 46 feet, 4 inches, and won the discus (134-5).

With freshman Carli Preston pacing the field, the Shafter girls finished 1-2 in the 1600 and swept the 3200.

The Tehachapi boys took the top three spots in both the 100 and 200. Brennen Davis, who also helped the Warriors win the 400 and 1600 relays, edged Brendyn Heath to win both sprint races.

In 16 events, Tehachapi 's boys had eight wins and five seconds.

Sarah Hill of Bakersfield Christian swept the three girls jumping events while her teammate Melissa Merrill was won the 100 and 300 hurdles.

Wasco's Oscar Gomez relegated Clark to a second place finish in the 300 hurdles and won the high jump at 6-0.

Arvin's Juan Calderon prevailed in the boys 800, 1600, and 3200.

Warrioe Rachel Evans won the 100 and 200. And Danielle Tildahl took first in the 400 and 800. They also were part of the winning 1600 relay.

Lowder's long jump mark of 22-7 broke a Tehachapi school record.

The Generals' Matthew Bender matched Rasley by winning the boys shot and discus. Shafter junior Giselle Flores was second in the girls shot and third in the discus.

This is the last season that these leagues will exist in their current configuration because next year there will be three leagues. The Driller boys and girls won the SEYL team titles. While the Ridgeview boys and Stockdale boys took the SWYL crowns.

SEYL - Driller junior Sarah Baker won the 800, 1600 and 3200 and scored 30 points for her squad who won the SEYL league meet and I believe has tied Liberty for the overall title. Liberty won the dual meet title and hence the tie.

In the 800, the Garcia sisters took 2nd and 4th. Lucia also came in third in the 1600 for East. Garce senior Monica Guzman took second in both the 1600 and 3200. She will be running for CSUB in the fall. In third in the 3200 was foothill's Natalie Fernandez who came in 4th in the 1600.

SWYL - In the 800, Frontier's Alyson DeLaRosa won over Ridgeview's Tijerra Lynch. Alyson also came in 3rd in the 400 and ran on Frontier's 3rd place 4 x 400 and 4 x 100 teams.

Stockdale owned the 1600 and 3200. Carolin Haney won both and her teammate Riddhi patel took 2nd in the 1600 and fourth in the 3200. their other teammate Tori Blackmon was third in the 1600 and second in the 3200. Tori and Riddhi are freshman and along with Haney won the 2009 SWYL cross country title and now have a SWYL track title too.

SEYL - The distance races were dominated by 2010 SEYL cross country champs Highland. They went 1 2 3 in the 800 with Jake Van Zandt leading the way. In the 1600, they went 1st, 3rd and 5th with Colin Lewis winning (he was second in the 800).

In the 3200, Golden Valley's Damon Sandles crushed the field by 45 seconds for the win.

SWYL - Was like the SEYL distance races except even more dominate. Ridgeview won the 2009 SWYL cross country team title and also picked up a track one tonight. Jerrid Lewis won the 400, 800 and was on the winning 4 x 400 team. His teammate Robbie won the 1600 and came in second in the 800 and 3200. The 3200 was won by his teammate Alex Garcia.

Like the cross country season, Stockdale was on their heals with a 3rd & 5th in the 800 and a 3rd, 4th & 5th in the 1600 and 3200.

On the boy's side, Stockkdale's Stephen Burke was the highest finisher in the varsity distance events with his third place finish in the 800. He ran 1:59.41 and Frontier's Caleb Barger came in 6th in a time of 2:00.48 and Johnathan Mireles of Shafter was sandwiched between the two of them.

In the 1600, Stockdale sophomore Curtis Kelly came in 4th in a time of 4:32.15 and he was followed by two Mcfarland runners. Freshman Erik Garcia ran 4:35.05 and his older teammate Marco Perez ran 4:35..69. Behind them in 8th place was Mustang Cameron Miller in a time of 4:36.41.

In the 3200, Erik Garcia of McFarland came in 4th in a time of 9:46.78 and Stockdale's Cameron Miller came in 7th in a time of 9:48.63.

In the girl's distance races, there were many fine performances. In the 800, Alyson DeLaRosa (2:18.36a Frontier) came in 3rd and Sarah Baker (11:11.52a BAKE 11) ran a PR and also came in 3rd in the 3200. In the 3200, Carolin Haney (11:20.59a STOC 11) placed 5th and her teammate, Riddhi Patel (11:52.39a STOC 9) was 10th.

They also ran the 1600, Carolin Haney (5:27.87a STOC 11) came in 4th and Patel came in 6th (5:32.14a STOC 9). In both races Patel was just in front of Nicolette Aldape (5:34.51a SHAF 9 & 11:56.85a SHAF 9) of Shafter. In the 3200, her teammate Cambria Tudor (11:51.91a SHAF 9) was in front of both freshman.
