Meet Recap:

So far it sounds like Bakersfield has done real well at the meet. Sarah Baker (BHS) and Riddhi Patel (Stockdale) qualified in the 800 and 1600. Riddhi also qualified in the 550.

In boys 550, Caleb Barger (Frontier) also qualified. Another Titan, Alyson Delarosa won the 800.

In the 3200, Sarah and Riddhi qualified and Mustang Curtis Kelly did on the boys side. I have reports that Alex Collatz (Stockdale) qualified in the high jump and triple jump. Also former triple jump state champ from Ridgeview, Johnny Carter has qualified for the indoor meet at Fresno.

Meet Preview:

Date:	Saturday, January 23, 2010
Time:	9:00am - 12:00pm
Location:	Kingsburg HS Fresno, CA

The inaugural California State Indoor High School Invitational track and field meet on February 6th will be for high school athletes competing unattached and will be held in conjunction with the Run for the Dream indoor meet at the Save-Mart Center in Fresno, CA on that weekend. Participation in the invitational for high school athletes will be by qualifying only, with the qualifying meets being conducted two weeks prior at various locations across the state.

For the February 6th invitational high school meet, there will be running events (including relays) and field events. See the schedule of events here.

The 6 qualifying meets will be held on Jan. 23rd; there will be 3 meets in Southern California, 2 meets in Northern California and 1 in Central California. The entry fee at the 6 qualifying meets will be determined by the meet director at each specific location. Details on each of those qualifying meets will be linked here as thy become avaiable by December 21st.

Qualifying format from the January 23rd regional meets to the February 6th invitatonal:
The top 4 placers in each running event (including relays) and the top 2 placers in each field event at each of the January 23rd qualfying meets will be invited to compete in the CA. Indoor State HS Invit on Feb. 6th. All athletes wishing to compete in the CA State HS Invitational must sign up on the day of the qualifying meet (Jan. 23, 2010) and pay their invitational entry fee at that time. The cost of entering the CA. Indoor State HS Invitational meet is $25.

There will also be a minimum at-large performance standard for each event for those athletes who do not automatically qualify for the February 6th meet by place. Those athletes who did not qualify automatically but have the best at-large performance marks that satisfy the minimum standard will also be invited to compete to help fill the field. These minimum standards will be published at a later date on Dyestatcal.com as they become available from meet management.

There will be a sign-up table at all 6 regional meets to sign-up athletes who would like to compete in the Feb. 6th meet. All qualifying athletes for the February 6th meet must sign-up on Jan 23rd. There will be no late entry for the Feb. 6th meet.
Athletes in the weight events will be asked to supply their own implements at both the qualifying meet and Invitational Meet.

INFORMATION SHEET

WARM-UP AREA: Please warm up on the grass area between the track and fence. ONLY 1/4” SPIKES WILL BE ALLOWED. The starter and judges will check spike length

REPORTING TIME: Please report to your event by THE SECOND CALL - or 10 MINUTES before starting time. Your cooperation will be appreciated.

STARTING HEIGHTS - High Jump/:
To be determined at the site.

POLE VAULT: DUE TO CIRCUMSTANSES BEYOND OUR CONTROL, WE DO NOT HAVE A POLE VAULT FACILITY THIS YEAR.

NUMBER OF JUMPS/THROWS: In the DISCUS, SHOT, HAMMER, LONG & TRIPLE JUMPS, each competitor will be allowed a total of FOUR (4) attempts. The one-minute rule will apply.

Competitors in the FIELD EVENTS will NOT be allowed any attempts, after the last competitor in the last flight has completed his/her throws/jumps. NO EXCEPTIONS!

Extremely large numbers in the field events could result in instituting a “qualifying” line, in which competitors would have to throw/jump past this mark to be measured. Meet management will view the entries, before making the final decision.

JAVELIN: We will have two (2) Javelin throwing areas. WOMEN will throw on the south field; MEN will throw within the track infield. The Javelin runways are grass.

FALSE START RULE: A false start will and must eliminate that individual and his/her relay team from the race.

AWARDS: Quality T-shirts will be awarded to the first-place team in each relay section. In the field events, first place will receive a T-shirt. You may claim your T-shirt thirty (30) minutes AFTER the event has been announced.

SHOWER FACILITIES: Will be available, but each SCHOOL/INDIVIDUAL must provide its/his/her OWN TOWELS and SECURITY for its/his/her VALUABLES.

PARKING: Buses can park in the parking lot NORTH of the track. NO PARKING DIRECTLY IN FRONT of the track (west side).

The time schedule is based on entries received and we will try to keep on schedule, as much as possible. YOUR COOPERATION AND UNDERSTANDING WILL BE APPRECIATED.

NOTE: All SCRATCHES will be made to the Clerk of the Course or at the field event. ADDITIONS will be added, only if space is available.

Two-turn stagger: #1 and #2 runners will be in lanes. Exchange zones are clearly marked. The 400 runner can break for the pole.

DISTANCE MEDLEY RELAY 1200-400-800-1600


4X400 RELAY - 2 TURN STAGGER

First runner in lanes all the way. Second runner, after receiving the baton, may break for the inside lane, PROVIDED he/she does not interfere with another runner.

Saturday, February 20, 2010 is the date of the annual LEE ADAMS/CSUB OPEN TRACK AND FIELD MEET at California State University, Bakersfield. We would like to extend an invitation to you and some of your outstanding athletes to enter this year’s meet.

If not enough entries are received to field a particular event, that event will not be held. HOWEVER, your athlete(s) CAN ENTER ANY EVENT(s) of competition offered. We are changing the format this year and moving to more normal outdoor events. Sprints will be photo-timed.

They will be awarded T-shirts, based on their finish AGAINST OTHER HIGH SCHOOL student-athletes. When entering, please have them indicate the name of their high school or high school club team next to their name.
