A Mustang Moves On

Stockdale's Alada took second in the 100, where the favorite Bigelow pulled up at the finish and appeared to injured. Trying to do the 100/200/400 triple might have been a bit too much especially since the 100 is right after the 400s on the schedule.

Because of the suspected groin injury Bigelow won't be competing in the 200 at state, where as a freshman he came in second in 2008. Interestingly, Bigelow pulled up short with an injury on the very same track in the first meet of the year, the Clovis Sprint Classic.

Who Made State? (Boys)

To make state one must come in the top three at valley or meet a very tough At-Large standard. The following boys made state:

Stockdale's Nathan Alada made it in the 200, Isiah Purvis (Ridgeview) in the 400 & 4 x 400, Jerrid Lewis (Ridgeview) in the 800, Chris Schwartz in the 1600 & 3200, and Centenial and Ridgeview in the 4 x 400.
In the field events, George Robbins (West) and Phillip McCullum Made it in the high jump, Marty Afeentranger (Liberty) in the long jump, Johnny Carter (Ridgeview) in the triple jump and Matt Darr (Frontier) in the throws.

Exact Time, Different Future

Hunt of Bakersfield and Jenning of Stockdale ran the exact same time but only one is moving on. Of course, Hunt will be busy with the 400 relay, 200 and 4 x 400. Both Sumlin and Alade are ranked in the top ten in the valley.
