This is influenced by many factors, from your lung size to your cardiac output to the capillarization of your muscles to the function of enzymes in your muscles. However, despite how often VO2max is mentioned, it’s not a perfect indicator of performance capability (other factors like economy and anaerobic threshold come into play here), but it can give some idea of your endurance potential
