The 46th Annual Run to the Top

Start
The 46th Annual Run to the Top (of Mt Baldy), was my first and the event's first as well. As we drove to the race on Labor Day (09.05.11), I noticed a lot of clouds and then saw lightning as we drove over the Grapevine. Since Mt. Baldy is over 10,000 feet high, I realized that this was not a good thing. When we got to the 210, it rained a little and the light show continued.

As we drove the 15 miles from the 210 to the start, the weather looked a little better but I still had my doubts that the race would go on or that we would get to the summit. I have never been to Baldy and it is kind of cool that it is so close to civilization. If you leave nearby, it is definitely a great training area.
