Led by Johnny Carter, the Ridgeview boys track team ran away from Stockdale and South on Wednesday to preserve its undefeated record in dual meets this season.

"I was pumped up to go against Stockdale; it was a must that I competed my best today," said Carter, who ranks No. 1 in the state and No. 3 in the nation in the triple jump. "Stockdale has some tough competitors, and I am satisfied with the results."

Host Ridgeview rolled up 81 points to Stockdale's 53 and South's 15 while the Wolfpack won nine of the 16 scheduled events.

Carter led the way with three individual victories. The junior won the triple jump at 45 feet, 9 inches, the long jump at 21-4 and ran the100 meters in 10.8 seconds. Carter was also on the winning 400 relay team that ran 43.9 to win the event.

"Johnny (Carter) had a great day," Ridgeview coach Adam Setser said. "He's one of those athletes that don't come along very often, and he's a huge part of this team."

Senior Jerrid Lewis also contributed to the effort, winning the 400 (51.5) and the 800 (2:02) and running part of the 400 relay. Lewis is ranked No.6 in the state in the 800 and No. 2 in 400.

"He's the fastest on our 400 relay, and he really helps us out there," Setser said. "I have been working with him for four awesome years, and I will be sad to see him go at the end of the year."

Stockdale took four of the six field competitions, including the pole vault, shot put, high jump and discus events.

Stockdale coach Dave Lonsinger was "very happy" with the team's overall performance.

"Even though we have a much younger team, I thought our kids performed well today, especially in the field events," he said. "Ridgeview has about five seniors that I have a lot of respect for, and I think our kids got a lot of experience running with them today."

Alex Collatz led the Stockdale girls to a 104-28 victory over Ridgeview, winning four individual events.

Collatz, who has already thrown the discus 180-9 this year, completed the event at 167-6, along with first-place finishes in the high jump at 5 feet, 5 inches, the long jump at 16-9 and the shot put at 42-11.
